Emmanuel Lassaigne

If the unique character and quality of the Montgueux terroir are recognized today, it is thanks to the exemplary work of Champagne Jacques Lassaigne, a family estate run since 1999 by Emmanuel Lassaigne. An off-center hill in the Aube vineyard and overlooking the plain west of Troyes, Montgueux benefits from a limestone terroir remarkably suited to Chardonnay, unlike the rest of the Aube vineyard where the marl soils are mainly devoted to Pinot Noir. The estate's various plots – barely 4 hectares, to which are added purchases of rigorously selected grapes – are worked with total respect for the soil and the plant, without chemicals. The vintages are available according to the blending of plots (Les Vignes de Montgueux, La Colline infirmières) , or the plot selection (Le Cotet) , or the type of aging (Soprano, Alto, Ténor) , or even the vintage, thus defining stylistic variations that are extremely rare in Champagne.
