Emmanuel Lassaigne

The unique character and quality of the Montgueux terroir are now widely recognized thanks to the exemplary work of Champagne Jacques Lassaigne, a family estate run by Emmanuel Lassaigne since 1999. Located on a hillside in the Aube wine region, overlooking the plain west of Troyes, Montgueux benefits from a limestone terroir remarkably well-suited to Chardonnay, unlike the rest of the Aube vineyards where marl soils are predominantly planted with Pinot Noir. The estate's various plots – barely 4 hectares, supplemented by carefully selected grapes – are cultivated with complete respect for the soil and the vines, without the use of any chemicals. The cuvées vary according to the blending of plots (Les Vignes de Montgueux, La Colline inspirée), or the selection of plots (Le Cotet), or the type of aging (Soprano, Alto, Ténor), or even the vintage, thus defining stylistic variations that are extremely rare in Champagne.
