Virgil Dreno

A young estate founded by Virgil Dréno, a former Strasbourg restaurateur who converted to winemaking. After five years of apprenticeship in Corsica, he settled in the Corbières in search of vineyards close to the sea.

The estate now comprises approximately four hectares spread between Fraïssé-des-Corbières and Durban-Corbières, cultivated using organic farming methods. Vineyard work is done manually with minimal mechanization: gentle pruning, complete cover cropping, and a rejection of copper in favor of nettle and comfrey manure and infusions.

Since the end of 2022, Virgil has been based in a manor house in Durban-Corbières, where he makes wine without any additives, favoring short macerations to preserve freshness and fluidity. Carignan, Grenache, Caladoc, and Mediterranean white grape varieties combine to create straightforward and easy-drinking wines that are true reflections of the clay-limestone terroirs of the Corbières.
