Pierre Fenals' career path is anything but conventional. After a scientific career (chemistry, biochemistry) followed by a stint in sales and marketing, he answered the call of the land and wine: he began viticulture and oenology studies (Beaune and Dijon) and, in his fifties, embarked on a seven-year apprenticeship at various Burgundy wineries. At the same time, as opportunities arose, he acquired vineyard plots in the Côte-de-Beaune, around Saint-Aubin, which he later supplemented with leased land. Inspired by Steiner's Course for Farmers, he embraced biodynamic farming and, in 2009, produced his first wine, marking the launch of his winery, Maison En Belles Lies. Today, the estate has 2.5 hectares of vines spread between Côte-de-Beaune and Beaujolais, supplemented by 3.5 hectares of purchased grapes, all cultivated and vinified in the most natural way possible.
