Julien Mareschal

By choosing viticulture during his agricultural studies, Julien Mareschal made a decisive choice that led him to establish his estate in 2003 in Pupillin. The current 5.5 hectares of vineyards are spread across various soil types in the specific vineyard plots of this village, renowned for its terroir within the Arbois appellation: limestone or clay-limestone parcels, red or grey marl, and schistous marl, each suited to the white (Chardonnay, Savagnin) and red (Ploussard, Trousseau, Pinot Noir) grape varieties prevalent in the Jura region. His conviction that respecting the life of the soil and the vine is essential for an authentic expression of the terroir has led him to organic/biodynamic farming practices and winemaking techniques that favor indigenous yeasts, without oenological additives and with minimal doses of added sulfur. The wines, made primarily by grape variety and by plot (La Marcette, Côte de Feule, Côte de Caillot, Sous la Roche), offer a frank, fresh and luminous vision of the singularity of Pupillin: chiseled, elegant and expressive wines.
