Famille Pfifferling
Having transitioned from beekeeping to winemaking by acquiring family vineyard plots in Tavel, and then from cooperative member to independent winemaker in 2002, Éric Pfifferling became a prominent figure in the Southern Rhône during the 2000s. Guided by the example of Jean-François Nicq – then winemaker at Cave d'Estézargues – he has focused his work on an ever-more refined pursuit of natural winemaking techniques, both in the vineyard (no chemicals) and in the cellar (whole-cluster maceration, indigenous yeasts, no additives). Gradually expanding not only across different terroirs in Tavel, but also in La Vaunage (a terroir near Nîmes) and Lirac, and with the estate now passed on to the sons, Thibault and Joris, the vineyard comprises around twenty hectares. The Tavel, with its intense and deep color, and the reds shine with their shimmering richness and suave aromatic elegance. An exemplary, inspired, and inspiring work.
