Brouilly

Born into a family of cooperative winegrowers established within the
Beaujolais crus in the Brouilly and Côtes-de-
In Brouilly, Jean-Claude Lapalu has broken away from the cooperative winery.
He began in 1996 to produce his own wines. He also
detached from conventional practices to evolve towards a culture
respectful of soil life, without chemicals, and of
Winemaking without additives. The estate's 12 hectares, mainly of
old Gamay vines are used to produce various cuvées which
allow themselves some original experiments: selection of very
old vines, ripeness or over-ripeness of the grapes, maceration
carbonic maceration or destemmed grapes, vinification in amphorae, and even
adding a touch of Syrah… In any case, wines
exemplary in nature, with beautiful, pulpy fruit that is also crisp,
concentrated and velvety.
