Jean-Michel Petit

Since the dawn of the 20th century, the Petit family has held its place in the small winemaking world of Pupillin, and today it is represented by two branches: Domaine Désiré Petit and Domaine de la Renardière. After his viticultural studies and experiences abroad, Jean-Michel Petit returned to his native land and in 1990 created his own estate – soon named La Renardière – starting with a few vines rented from his father (who remained a member of the cooperative). These were gradually expanded with additional plots, which now comprise a 7-hectare vineyard. From the outset, his aim was to remain independent and close to the land, with a desire to understand the different terroirs and their unique expression: single-vineyard wines, respect for the soil and the environment (no chemical fertilizers or herbicides), which led to organic practices from the early 2000s, gentle winemaking, and aging in oak barrels. As the estate has evolved, the wines have gained in precision, finesse and minerality to establish themselves as one of the great expressions of the incomparable character of the Pupillin terroir.
