Stéphane Tissot

When Stéphane Tissot and his wife Bénédicte took over the estate in Montigny-les-Arsures in 1989, which his parents had established in 1962, he quickly demonstrated a true expertise in expressing grape varieties through the diversity of the Jura terroirs – limestone, clay, and marl – particularly in single-vineyard wines. This approach, which requires promoting healthy soils and high-quality grapes, soon led him, by the late 1990s, to transition to organic and then biodynamic farming. With a 50-hectare vineyard and a diverse distribution (local plots, exposures), the estate offers a wide range of wines, each distinguished by its terroir. This terroir is reflected in the winemaking style – as natural as possible, with no additives except perhaps a minimal dose of added sulfur – and the aging options (tanks, barrels, amphorae) according to the winemaker's vision. Among the pioneers who fostered the healthy competition so conducive to the evolution of the Jura vineyards, Stéphane Tissot showcases the exceptional landscape of the Revermont through the various grape varieties – Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau, Pinot Noir – and their interpretation in wines of great character: minerality, freshness, and energy.
