Jean Maupertuis

Jean Maupertuis

A discreet but pioneering figure in the revival of Auvergne wines, Jean Maupertuis has been based in Saint-Georges-sur-Allier since 1996. A part of the short-lived collective adventure of Domaine de Peyra (early 2000s), he manages his 3.5 hectares of vines quietly and, strongly inspired by the example of Marcel Lapierre and Pierre Overnoy, without ever deviating from his artisanal convictions and his “natural” philosophy. From Gamay, Pinot Noir and also the rare local Noirfleurien, as well as Chardonnay, the terroir, depending on its granite or basalt soils, offers fruity and fresh mineral wines, with a very pleasant personality reflecting that of the winemaker.
