Julien Mareschal

By opting for viticulture during his agricultural studies, Julien Mareschal made a decisive choice that led him to create his estate in 2003 in Pupillin. The current 5.5 ha of the vineyard are spread over different soils of localities in this village with a renowned terroir in the Arbois appellation area: limestone or clay-limestone plots, red or gray marl, schist marl, differently adapted to the white (chardonnay, savagnin) and red (ploussard, trousseau, pinot noir) grape varieties that prevail in the Jura. The conviction that respect for the life of the soil and the vine is the essential condition for an authentic expression of the terroirs leads him to organic/biodynamic farming and to vinifications that favor indigenous yeasts, without oenological inputs and with minimal doses of added sulfur. The vintages, produced mainly by grape variety and by plot (La Marcette, Côte de Feule, Côte de Caillot, Sous la Roche), offer a frank, fresh and luminous vision of the singularity of Pupillin: chiseled, elegant and expressive wines.
