The Winegrowers

Mireille & Patrick Meyer

Located in Nothalten, between Strasbourg and Colmar, the family estate was taken over by Patrick Meyer in 1982. Together with Mireille, he was among the very first Alsatian winemakers to commit to organic viticulture in the early 1990s, before adopting biodynamic practices and obtaining Demeter certification in 1999. Reducing sulfur doses year after year, the couple eventually abandoned them completely, thus positioning the estate at the forefront of the natural wine movement in Alsace. Today, their two daughters have joined the family business, ensuring the continuation of this demanding philosophy.

The 8 hectares of vineyards benefit from remarkable terroirs. The Grand Cru Muenchberg, cultivated by monks since the 12th century, rests on geological formations 250 million years old, composed of pink sands and volcanic rocks. The Zellberg vineyard, with its limestone soils, complements this heritage. Favoring minimal intervention in the cellar, the Meyer family works each plot with the aim of revealing its unique character. The different cuvées thus bear witness to the great diversity of expressions that the Alsatian vineyards can offer.
