The Winegrowers
Anselme & Guillaume Selosse
A true emblem of a Champagne region that chooses great wine and not just “bubbles,” Anselme Selosse has been at the helm of the family estate since 1974, now comprising 8 hectares located mainly in the Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger). Chardonnay is largely the majority (7 hectares), alongside a few plots of Pinot Noir (1 hectare) spread across the Marne Valley (Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ) and the Montagne de Reims (Ambonnay). His approach is based on a single ambition: the most accurate and authentic expression of the terroir, that is to say, the minerality specific to the Champagne limestone. In this path, there is no fixed method, but on the contrary a constant adaptation to natural conditions which has led him to borrow in turn from organic farming and biodynamics, then from the “natural agriculture” of Masanobu Fukuoka. A true working philosophy – in the cultivation of the vine, winemaking and aging – which refuses to constrain nature and chooses to bring it to life and reveal all its potential.
