The Winegrowers

Christian Venier

Christian Venier

From his activity as a sheep shearer for long seasons to his return to his native land, Christian Venier's career has found its culmination on the vineyards of the family farm in Candé-sur-Beuvron, in the Cheverny appellation area. His first vintages date back to 1995, and from the outset he has positioned himself in a search for naturalness that excludes any chemical treatment in vine cultivation and any input in winemaking (no added sulfur, in particular), in the path opened by his cousins Puzelat (Clos du Tue-Bœuf) and by Christian Chaussard, then winemaker and teacher at the agricultural college of Amboise. Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pineau for the whites, Gamay and Pinot Noir for the reds give birth to vintages characterized by an earthy elegance that places them among the most convincing successes of the Cheverny appellation.
