Famille Pfifferling

Pfifferling Family

Having moved from beekeeping to viticulture by recuperating family vineyard plots in Tavel, then from cooperative member to independent winemaker in 2002, Éric Pfifferling became a leading figure in the Southern Rhône region during the 2000s. Guided by the example of Jean-François Nicq – at the time winemaker at Cave d'Estézargues –, his work is part of an ever more refined search for naturalness in the vineyard (no chemicals) as well as in the cellar (whole bunch maceration, indigenous yeasts, no additives). Gradually expanding not only on different terroirs in Tavel, but also on La Vaunage (a terroir near Nîmes) and Lirac, and with the support of the two sons of the house, Thibault and then Joris, the vineyard now has 16 hectares of vines. The Tavel – intense and full-bodied “rosé”, in keeping with a nearly forgotten tradition – and the reds shine with their shimmering richness and suave aromatic elegance. Exemplary, inspired and inspiring work.
