The Winegrowers
Justine & Patrick Bouju
"In search of the best known or forgotten terroirs of Puy-de-Dôme", Patrick Bouju created his La Bohème estate in 2004 with plots (5 ha) spread over an area between Égliseneuve-près-Billom, Cournon-d'Auvergne and Corent. On limestone or volcanic soils, he cultivates with the greatest care - without weedkillers or chemical treatments, but with fermented plant extracts or herbal teas - mostly old vines (up to 120 years old) of grape varieties from local tradition (Gamay d'Auvergne and Gamays teinturiers, Mirefleurien, Pinot Noir) or from elsewhere (Limberger). Healthy vines, ripe grapes, low-intervention, no-additive vinification: the wines are rich in floral and fruit aromas ( Violette, Lulu ), in intense and racy tones ( La Bohême, Cailloux ), with original accents, such as the rare oxidative chardonnay ( Suzanne ) and the semi-dry sparkling red ( Festejar ). These are truly “natural” wines, among the most innovative in Auvergne.
