René-Jean Dard & François Ribo

René-Jean Dard and François Ribo, fresh out of the Beaune wine school, began their joint venture in 1984 with a Dard family vineyard in Mercurol, within the Crozes-Hermitage appellation on the left bank of the Rhône. Through acquisitions, the estate expanded to 9 hectares, with parcels in Hermitage and, on the right bank of the Rhône, in Saint-Joseph. The estate quickly established itself among the pioneers of natural wine, embracing a philosophy shared by the Villié-Morgon group around Marcel Lapierre. Their choice to cultivate the vines and vinify without any additives gives both the reds (Syrah) and the whites (Roussanne and Marsanne), reflecting the unique terroirs, a fruit freshness, vibrancy, and drinkability that have long distinguished them in the Northern Rhône wine region.
