A leading figure in the natural wine movement in Anjou, best known by his nickname, Sébastien Dervieux first co-founded Domaine des Griottes with Patrick Desplats in 2001 before establishing his own estate, Les Vignes de Babass, in 2011. Located on the schistous terroir typical of the Coteaux du Layon region (Rochefort-sur-Loire), his 4 hectares are planted primarily with old vines of Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Grolleau, traditional grape varieties of the Anjou vineyards. Respecting the vine and the soil in the spirit of biodynamic farming, and employing entirely natural winemaking techniques, the estate's philosophy translates into wines that express fruit, texture, and minerality with great authenticity.
